BISMARCK, ND -- Evan Lovett and Carson Chrisman each rushed for more than 100 yards Saturday afternoon, but Minot State fell 36-21 on the road at Mary.
"Credit to Coach Schillinger and U Mary — they out-coached and out-played us today collectively…" Minot State head coach Ian Shields said. "We lose the turnover battle 2-0, don't win in critical situations on both sides of the ball, and generally didn't execute well enough in any phase of the game…"
The Marauders improved to 4-5 on the year and 3-5 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, while the Beavers fell to 2-7 overall and 2-6 in conference matchups.
The Beavers got the big days from Lovett, who racked up 139 yards and one touchdown, and Carson Chrisman, who tacked on 127 yards and two touchdowns to lead the rushing attack.
Tyler Stonebraker pulled in one catch for 34 yards.
Reid Jamerson paced the Minot State defensive effort, totaling 1.0 TFL and one sack.Â
Minot State put together a big showing on the ground, logging 310 rushing yards while averaging 6.3 yards per carry and out-rushing Mary by 167 yards.
Minot State's defense held up fairly well against the run, limiting Mary to 143 yards on the ground.
As Shields emphasized, the group is not backing down from adversity:
"We have a resilient group — I expect us to bounce back, dust ourselves off, and be ready to compete next week."
