MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State volleyball team hits the road one final time to close out the season, playing at Sioux Falls on Friday night and at No. 14-ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday.
Looking to finish the season on a high note, the match-up with the Cougars (17-9 overall, 12-6 NSIC) is the first this season for the Beavers (3-25, 1-17), as is Saturday's season finale with the Mustangs (19-6, 12-6).
Minot State looks to snap a 13-match win streak in the head-to-head series by the Cougars. Meanwhile, Sioux Falls is tied with Southwest Minnesota State for fifth and sixth in the NSIC standings and can punch its playoff ticket with a win Friday night.
The Cougars are led by senior outside hitter Sadie Voss and redshirt-freshman middle blocker Ella Walker, both of whom were named 1
st Team All-NSIC this season. Voss has 321 kills, 270 digs, and 27 blocks for the Cougars, and Walker has 199 kills and 90 blocks.
Saturday, Minot State will be gunning for a first-ever win against the 14
th-ranked Mustangs, who are led by 1
st Team All-NSIC junior outside hitter Leah Jones. Jones has 372 kills, 202 digs, and 30 blocks this season.
The Mustangs also have three players who were named to the All-NSIC 2
nd Team this season, junior right-side Ashley Peltier, sophomore setter Sydney Thein, and senior libero McKenzie Tolk. Peltier has 252 kills and 69 blocks, Thein dished out 1,116 assists, has 36 kills, 242 digs, and 25 blocks, and Tolk has 456 digs for the Mustangs.
