BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minot State track and field teams hit the road to open the 2025-26 indoor season, competing at the Mike Thorson Open hosted by the University of Mary on Saturday.
Senior sprinter
Summer Krebsbach led the way for the Minot State women, placing third in a pair of events to start her season, while redshirt freshman
Samuel Butikofer added a 3
rd-place finish in his collegiate debut to lead the way for the Beaver men.
Krebsbach opened her senior season finishing 3
rd in the women's 60-meter dash and in the 200 meters. She clocked a preliminary time of 7.74 seconds in the 60 to advance to the finals, then finished 3
rd in 7.87 in the finals.
In the 200, she was 3
rd in 26.31 seconds.
On the men's side, Butikofer was third in the men's high jump as he cleared 6 feet, 2.75 inches in his collegiate debut meet.
Minot State also got a strong collegiate debut from true-freshman
Jamie Ward, who finished 8th in the women's shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 3 inches.
With the indoor track and field season now underway, the Beavers will compete one more time before the Christmas break as they next head to Fargo, North Dakota, for the Dakota Alumni Classic hosted by North Dakota State.
