DULUTH, Minn. – Minot State junior
Bailey Wride raced her way to a 7
th-place finish on Saturday, leading the way for the Beaver women's track and field team, which wrapped up competition at the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Minnesota Duluth.
While Wride's finish powered the Minot State women, who finished 15
th with 2 team points, the Beaver men were led by the 4x100-meter relay quartet of
Alex Roberts,
Tyson Ruzicka,
Justin Williams, and
Brayan Augustin, who finished 8
th in 42.28 seconds. Their effort scored a point for the Minot State men, who were 12
th in the team standings with 4 team points as the Beaver men wrapped up competition at the NSIC Championship, as well.
Wride had a busy Saturday at the Championships as she finished 7
th in the women's 800 meters in 2 minutes, 16.67 seconds, and also finished 11
th in the women's 1,500 in 4:45.83.
Ava Ruthven added a 14
th-place finish in the women's javelin with a throw of 111 feet, 2 inches on Saturday,
Afton Wride added a 16
th-place finish in the women's triple jump with a mark of 36-0.25, and
Kaiya Chell was 24th in the women's discus with a throw of 114-9 for the Minot State women.
While they powered the Minot State women's performance Saturday at the Championships, the Beaver men competed in both relays, with the 4x100 relay finishing 8
th and the Minot State men's 4x400 relay quartet of Roberts,
Jacob Jackson,
Zander Grover, and
Peyton Tuhy finishing 10
th in 3:25.95.
Minnesota State claimed both the men's and women's team titles, with the Mavericks running away with the men's title with 235 points, more than double the 101.5 total for second-place Northern State.
On the women's side, Minnesota State edged out Mary, 167-161, for the title.
