MINOT, ND - The #6 ranked Minot State Beavers women's hockey team shutout the University of Jamestown with a final score of 1-0 in overtime in game one of a two-game series on Friday, February 14. With the win, the Beavers improve their record to 21-7-2, while the University of Jamestown falls to 7-14-7.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first period thanks to the work of each teams' goalies. Minot State's goalie,
Jillian Ackerman, tallied 8 saves on 8 shots on goal, and Jamestown's goalie, Lilah Drew, tallied 8 saves on 8 shots on goal.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second period as well, with each teams' goalies having another successful period of play. Minot State's goalie,
Jillian Ackerman, tallied 10 saves on 10 shots on goal, and Jamestown's goalie, Lilah Drew, tallied 6 saves on 6 shots on goal.
Both teams were held scoreless yet again in the third period, with each goalie taking a shutout into overtime. Minot State's goalie,

Paige Kozak was the hero in overtime for the Beavers, scoring the game-winning goal at 0:29 into the overtime period.
Journey Miller and
Abby Pineau were credited with assists on the game-winning goal in overtime.
Jillian Ackerman led the way in goal for the Beavers, tallying 24 saves on 24 shots on goal to secure the shutout victory, improving her record to 8-1-0.
Following the 1-0 overtime victory over Jamestown, the Beavers will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, February 15, in game two of the two-game series against Jamestown for Senior Day at 5:00 pm at the Maysa Arena.
