O'FALLON, IL - The Minot State Beavers women's hockey team is moving on to the WMCH Conference Tournament semi-final game with a 4-2 victory over Midland University in game one on Thursday, February 20. With a 10-0 victory over Lindenwood University, the Beavers will be matching-up against Maryville University in the semi-final game on Friday, February 21, at 6:00 pm in O'Fallon, Illinois.
Minot State got on the board first at 9:05 into the first period on a power play goal scored by
Olivia Opheim to take a 1-0 lead. At 11:29 into the period, Midland answered with a power play goal of their own scored by Grace Page to tie the game at 1-1 through the first period.
Just like the first period, the Beavers got on the board first in the second period, at 2:51 into the period, on a power play goal scored by
Marlie Rutherford to take a 2-1 lead. Not even a minute later, Minot State took a 3-1 lead, at 3:15 into the period, on a goal scored by
Olivia Kirwan. At 10:15 into the period, Midland cut Minot State's lead down to 3-2 on a power play goal scored by Darbi Poole.
At 14:42 into the third period, the Beavers increased their lead to 4-2 on a goal scored by
Makena Welby. Minot State's goalie,
Jillian Ackerman, held Midland scoreless throughout the third period, tallying 16 saves on 16 shots on goal, to secure the 4-2 victory for the Beavers.

Jillian Ackerman led the way in goal for the Beavers, tallying 41 saves on 43 shots on goal, securing the victory for the Beavers and improving her record to 10-1-0.
Following the WMCH Conference Tournament game one victory over Midland University, the Beavers will be back in action in the WMCH Conference Tournament semi-final game against Maryville University on Friday, February 21, at 6:00 pm in O'Fallon, Illinois.
