TUCSON, Ariz -- The Beaver bats never let up, pounding out 30 runs on the day as Minot State swept a neutral-site NSIC baseball doubleheader from Winona State on Saturday, beating the Warriors14-9 and 16-8.
Minot State (9-5 overall, 4-2 NSIC) hit three home runs in the opener and added another in the nightcap.
The two teams meet again Sunday in another neutral-site doubleheader which wraps up a two-week stretch in Arizona for the Beavers.
GAME 1 | Minot State 14, Winona State 9
TUCSON, Ariz -- Minot State got contributions from every part of their lineup as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Beavers put 14 runs on the board and take down the Winona State Warriors 14-9 on Friday in the first game of a neutral-site NSIC doubleheader.
Junior Colton Bagshaw (2-0) got the win for Minot State. The right-hander went four innings, giving up six runs, four earned, on nine hits, allowing one walk and striking out five. Senior Hayden Bode also pitched well, going one inning, surrendering one run on two hits, walking none and striking out three.
Offensively, the Beavers were led by senior Brent Riddle, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, two walks and two RBI. Junior Michael Williamson furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Senior Javier Gutierrez also contributed for Minot State, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding a home run and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Minot State scored two runs on solo shots from Gutierrez and Williamson.
The Warriors failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The Minot State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of senior Seugjun Song, which brought the score to 6-0 in favor of the Beavers.
Winona State narrowed Minot State's lead to 6-2 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 10-2 in the fourth inning. The Beavers bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a one-run flyout off the bat of Williamson.
Minot State held the Warriors scoreless before their offense got in gear the next inning. The three-run frame for the Beavers was punctuated by a two-run homer from Riddle, bringing the score to 13-2 in favor of Minot State.
Winona State got within 13-9 until the Beavers scored again in the seventh inning to stretch its lead to 14-9. Minot State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of junior Oscar Pegg.

TUCSON, Ariz -- Brent Riddle had a double and a home run for the Beavers, leading the offense which scored early and often to complete a doubleheader sweep of Winona State with a 16-8 win late Saturday night.
Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, Minot State's offense came to life in the top of the second with a five-run rally, then the Beavers just kept adding to the lead with a six-run surge for a 13-4 lead in the top of the fifth, and three more runs in the seventh for the final 16-8 margin.
Oscar Pegg and Michael Williamson each had 3 hits in the win with Pegg driving in four runs and Williamson adding 3 RBIs.
Ian Bauer (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Beavers, pitching 1 1/3 innings of relief, and Noah Balandran earned his second save of the season with 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
