Minot State never trails in 4-2 win against Minnesota-Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn. -- The Beavers, now 15-9, finished the weekend off with a split against the University of Minnesota-Crookston. The Beavers went out with a .500 record on the weekend after their games against the Bemidji State Beavers and the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles. The Beavers will now look towards their last weekend of conference play where they will conclude conference play by hosting St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota- Duluth next weekend. 

GAME 1 | Minnesota-Crookston 6, Minot State 3

CROOKSTON, Minn. --Junior Anna LaCount and junior Paige Kellogg each racked up three hits, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles 6-3 on Saturday.

Senior Reegan Floyd (13-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State (26-20, 14-9).

In addition to her three hits, Kellogg had a home run and an RBI to lead the Beavers. LaCount added a home run and two RBI to her three-hit performance as well. Junior Taylor Smith also chipped in for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Minot State got an RBI single from LaCount, scoring Smith from second base.

The Beavers lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fourth trailing 2-1. Minot State scored twice on back-to-back home runs from Kellogg and LaCount, which brought the Beavers lead to 3-2. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Minnesota-Crookston scored four times over the remaining three innings to grab the 6-3 win.

CROOKSTON, Minn. --The Minot State Beavers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-2 win against the Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles on Saturday.

Senior Jasmine Blizzard (12-7) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State (27-20, 15-9). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out three.

At the plate, the Beavers were paced by junior Sara Van Wickler, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and an RBI. Junior Paige Kellogg compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Freshman Sarah Misner also contributed for Minot State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
