Minot State comes up short in doubleheader against Saint Cloud State

MINOT, ND -- The Beavers came up short in both games of their doubleheader today against Saint Cloud State. Highlights from the doubleheader included Sara Van Wickler ending Macey Clark's perfect game in the seventh inning of game one and Paige Kellogg securing her 100th game hit. The Beavers will now look towards their doubleheader tomorrow where they will host the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs. 

GAME 1 | Saint Cloud State 4, Minot State 1

MINOT, ND --The Minot State Beavers put together a valiant performance on Saturday, but ultimately came up short, losing to the Saint Cloud State Huskies by the score of 4-1.

Senior Reegan Floyd (13-9) got the ball to start for Minot State (27-21, 15-10) and took the loss. Freshman Sarah Misner was a bright spot for the Beavers, starting the ballgame and throwing one shutout inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

In the batter's box, the Beavers were led by junior Sara Van Wickler, who went 1-for-3 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers were trailing 4-0 in the seventh inning when they first put runs on the board. Van Wickler came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

Senior Jasmine Blizzard (12-8) got the ball to start for Minot State (27-22, 15-11) and took the loss. Freshman Sarah Misner was a bright spot for the Beavers, starting the ballgame and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits.

At the plate, the Beavers were paced by junior Taylor Smith, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Junior Micaela Resler furnished a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with two walks.
