MINOT, N.D. -- Senior Brent Riddle collected four RBIs, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the No. 4/8 Minnesota State Mavericks 10-6 on Monday in the finale of the teams' 4-game NSIC series at Corbett Field.
Minot Stat (12-16 overall, 7-13 NSIC) is back in action Wednesday, playing a doubleheader at Minnesota Crookston, then hosts Sioux Falls for a twinbill this coming Saturday at Corbett Field.
 
Sophomore Jacob Thompson (1-2) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss.
 
Riddle went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run in addition to his four RBIs for the Beavers. Senior Connor Hill furnished a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Junior Michael Williamson also chipped in for Minot State, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Minot State scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Riddle.
The Beavers deficit expanded to 7-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the eighth inning. Minot State scored twice on Riddle's two-run homer, which tightened the Mavericks lead to 7-4.
 
Minnesota State expanded their lead to 10-4 before the Minot State offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 10-6 in the ninth. The Beavers added two to their tally on Hill's two-run homer to right. The Beavers were unable to get any closer.
