MINOT, ND -- The Minot State volleyball team fell to the Manitoba Bisons 3-2 (26-24, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 12-15) Thursday at home at MSU Dome in the day's finale of the 1st International Bank and Trust Homecoming Classic.
The non-conference loss dropped Minot State to 1-5 on the season.
The Beavers offense was paced by Katelyn Onespot-Danforth, who finished with 18 kills on the day, and by Mia Thompson, who had 10 while hitting .261. Defensively, had three players reach double figures in digs, including Caton Pearcy's 22, 15 from Haley Saunders, and 14 more from Zoe Zarr. From the front row, Thompson contributed seven blocks and Azjiah Trader added five rejections.

SET 2 | Minot State dropped the second set 25-22 to even the match 1-1. Manitoba grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was knotted up four times before the took over the lead.
SET 3 | Minot State then dropped their second set in a row, falling behind in the match two sets to one. The Beavers fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-21.
SET 4 | Minot State broke their two set losing streak and forced a fifth set with a 25-18 victory in set number four. The Beavers led from the first point on in the set to secure the victory. Minot State opened up as much as an 11 point lead at 21-10 before finishing off the stanza. Minot State got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked seven attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 12 attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 5 | After dropping sets two and three, Minot State won set four, tying things up at 2-2 to force a fifth set, but couldn't complete the comeback, losing the set 15-12 and the match 3-2. The Beavers fell in a back-and-forth set five, losing in a stanza that featured two lead changes and was tied five times. Neither team led by more than three points in the set.
