MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women can achieve a milestone moment for their head coach with one more victory as they hit the ice this weekend to host Indiana Tech.
Ninth-year head coach
Ryan Miner sits at 199 career wins as the Beavers' head man, making the next Minot State victory a big one as his team hosts No. 13-ranked Indiana Tech on Friday and Saturday at the All Seasons Arena at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. Game time is 7:30 p.m. both nights.
Just as important as that milestone victory for the Beavers (9-6-5 overall, 7-6-1 WMCH), though, is continuing to build momentum in the second half of the season, which began with back-to-back home wins over Jamestown last weekend.
Minot State looks to continue its winning ways against an Indiana Tech this weekend, a team that split against No. 15 Michigan in its return to the ice after the holiday break, falling 3-2 before netting a 6-5 overtime win at home against the visiting Wolverines.
The one-two punch of senior Allison Greene (10 goals, 15 assists) and junior Halle Murray (9 goals, 11 assists) have led the way for the Warriors (8-12-1, 6-4-0 CCWHA) offensively, while junior Rose Lennon has 6 wins and 3 shutouts, and junior Ashtyn Berthiaume had 2 wins and a shutout, splitting time in net.
This will be the first regular-season meeting between the teams since October 2023, though they did play at nationals in March in a pool-play contest, a 5-2 Minot State victory that was the final game of the season for both teams.
Now-graduate student
Journey Miller had a pair of goals in that game for the Beavers, while now-sophomore
Jillian Ackerman made 5 saves playing half the contest in goal.
Both will be in action this weekend as Ackerman is Minot State's starter in goal, with 7 wins and 5 shutouts this season, along with a 1.53 goals against average and a 94.5 save percentage.
As for Miller, she's been part of a very balanced Beaver attack with 3 goals and 1 assist. An attack led by senior
Cameron Schmidt, who leads the Beavers with 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists), while senior
Abby Tallman has 4 goals and 4 assists, and fifth-year senior
Krissy Rink also had 4 goals and 3 assists.
