MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Minot State women hit the ice looking to extend their 2026 win streak as they play at the WMCH Showcase this weekend.
The Beavers (11-6-5 overall, 7-6-1 WMCH) play winless Lindenwood on Thursday at 11 a.m. to open the Showcase, then take on No. 4-ranked McKendree on Friday at 2 p.m.
Originally scheduled to play Saturday against No. 1 Liberty, then enjoy the WMCH All-Star game on Sunday, those two contests have been cancelled because of the threat of an approaching winter storm in the St. Louis area.
Thursday, the Beavers battle the Lions (0-16-1) for the first time this season.
Earlier this month, Lindenwood came its closest to a win as it skated into overtime against Massachusetts-Amherst before falling 3-2. The Lions followed that up with back-to-back shutout losses to Maryville.
Senior defenseman Mackenzie Cameron leads the Lions with 2 goals this season as Lindenwood has put just 5 pucks in the net through 17 games.
Minot State won 2-of-3 against Lindenwood last season, and holds a 6-2 all-time series edge.
The Beavers come in hot, having won four in-a-row since returning from the holiday break, which includes a 10-2 win last Saturday against No. 13 Indiana Tech that saw
Journey Miller scored 5 goals in the win – matching the Lions' team season total.
Miller leads the way for the Beavers with 9 goals and 4 assists, while
Abby Tallman has 6 goals and 6 assists, and
Jillian Ackerman leads the way in goal with 8 wins, a 1.50 goals against average, and 5 shutouts this season.
Friday, the Beavers wrap up the shortened Showcase playing at No. 4 McKendree, the teams' third match-up this season. The Beavers opened their 2025-26 season back in October with McKendree beating Minot State 2-1 at the Maysa Arena before the Beavers bounced back with a 3-1 victory to split the weekend series.
Tallman had the goal for Minot State in the opener against McKendree, while
Olivia Kirwan,
Olivia Opheim, and Miller each scored in the Beavers' victory. Ackerman made 18 saves in Minot State's loss, then stopped 30 shots in the Beaver win.
Freshman Olivia Imperato and senior Jayna Barnden each scored a goal in that earlier series for the Bearcats, and both have 7 goals on the season, along with teammate Brittney Kambeitz, to lead McKendree.
Senior goalie Rachel Staresinic made 23 saves in the Bearcats' win and stopped 25 shots in the loss to Minot State. She leads the way for McKendree in net with 7 wins, a 1.86 GAA, and 3 shutouts.
