Misner dominates in circle as Minot State wins 4-3, splits with Black Hills State

MINOT, ND -- Sarah Misner had a big day for the Beavers, blasting a 3-run home run in game one, then earning the complete-game win pitching in game two as Minot State split a doubleheader with Black Hills State to wrap up day two of the Bubble Invitational.

Misner's homer put the Beavers on top 6-4 in the opener before the Yellow Jackets rallied for an 8-6 win in eight innings.

She then led the way in the circle, striking out xx and not allowing an earned run in a 4-3 win over Black Hills State.

Minot State (3-1 overall) returns to action in three weeks, playing in the Jamestown Tournament on Friday, February 20, against Dakota Wesleyan and Dickinson State, then taking on Bismarck State and Concordia College on Saturday, February 21.

MINOT, ND --The Minot State Beavers fell 8-6 in an eight-inning matchup to the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets on Saturday.
Senior Kierra Fournier (0-1) took the loss in the circle for Minot State. Junior Taylor Kruser started the ballgame and went three innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking one and striking out one.
At the plate, the Beavers were led by sophomore Sarah Misner, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and three RBIs. Freshman Jorja Franzwa put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with two doubles. Junior Maizy Whitlow also contributed for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Franzwa came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
The Yellow Jackets then tied the ballgame at one before the Beavers came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Minot State picked up two runs when a single from Whitlow scored senior Anna LaCount and Misner, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Beavers.
Minot State's lead had evaporated by the time the fifth inning came around and turned into a 4-3 Black Hills State advantage, when the Beavers re-gained control at 6-4. The Beavers scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer from Misner that scored senior Paige Kellogg and LaCount. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Black Hills State scored four times over the remaining three innings to grab the 8-6 win.

MINOT, ND --The Minot State Beavers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-3 victory against the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets on Saturday.
Sophomore Sarah Misner (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, zero earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out six.
In the batter's box, the Beavers were paced by senior Sara Van Wickler, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double, a triple and a walk. Senior Mallory Hoogensen put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Isabelle Anderson also chipped in for Minot State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and two RBIs.
