JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Katie Newberry dominated with 10 strikeouts in the circle for Minot State, making her second start as the Beaver returned to the diamond for the first time in 3 weeks, rolling to a 5-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan to open the Nelson Family Bubble Invitational No. 2 hosted by Jamestown.
Things didn't go quite as well for Minot State in the second game of the day as Dickinson State got its offensive rolling in the bottom of the sixth, plating seven runs for a 10-2 win over the Beavers (4-2 overall).
Minot State is back in action Saturday at the tournament hosted by Jamestown, taking on Bismarck State at 1:30 p.m. and wrapping up the weekend against Concordia College at 3:30 p.m.
MINOT STATE 5, DAKOTA WESLEYAN 0
JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Katie Newberry was dealing on Friday, throwing a three-hit shutout to lead the Minot State Beavers past the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers 5-0.
Newberry (2-0) went the distance for Minot State, giving up three hits, walking one, and striking out 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers took the lead for good in the fourth, scoring for the first time in the inning on an Anna LaCount RBI single to center. Sarah Misner added an RBI triple, then Misner scored on an error for a 3-0 lead
The Beavers also added runs in the fifth inning as Sara Van Wickler had an RBI single and Paige Kellogg added an RBI triple.

JAMESTOWN, N.D – Isabelle Anderson collected two extra-base hits, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Dickinson State Blue Hawks 10-2 on Friday.
Sarah Misner (2-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State.
Anderson's two extra-base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-2 day, and included two doubles and a walk. Sara Van Wickler furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a triple. Paige Kellogg also helped out for the Beavers, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Minot State got an RBI single from Anna LaCount, scoring Van Wickler from second base.
After the Blue Hawks rallied to tie the ballgame 1-1, the Beavers came back to retake the lead in the third inning. Minot State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Kellogg, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Beavers. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Dickinson State scored twice in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead, then finished the win with a 7-run rally in the sixth.
