MINOT, N.D. – For the third week in a row, the Minot State men's hockey team remained No. 4 in the country, while the Minot State women's hockey team checked in at No. 5 in the first ACHA Division I women's poll of the season announced this week.

Both Minot State teams are on the road this weekend playing doubleheaders at Midland (Neb.). The 5th-ranked Minot State women take on No. 3 Midland at 5 p.m. today, Friday, then skate against the Warriors at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The 4th-ranked Minot State men's hockey team plays No. 24 Midland at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, and again at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Minot State men have been ranked No. 4 in all four polls this season, starting with the preseason poll and in each of the first three weekly polls voted on by the coaches. The ACHA Division I men's poll moves to a computer-generated ranking starting in November.

Defending national champion Ohio remained No. 1 in the poll with 700 points and 32 first-place votes, while UNLV moved up one spot to No. 2 with 654 points, and Adrian (Mich.) slipped a spot to No. 3 with 652 points.

Minot State, which picked up a pair of wins over Jamestown last week, but fell in a shootout at Mary, collected 606 points to remain at No. 4, while Liberty (Va.) moved up one spot to No. 5 with 575 points.

Minot State's in-state rivals, Jamestown and Mary, were No. 9 and 10 in the poll with 460 points and 439 points, respectively, with the Marauders moving up one spot thanks in part to their shootout win over the Beavers.

In the first women's poll released this season, unbeaten Michigan-Dearborn grabbed the No. 1 spot as it swept a pair of games from Liberty (Va.) over the weekend. Liberty was No. 2, in the poll followed by defending national champion Midland (Neb.), which was No. 3; then came Niagara (N.Y.) at No. 4 and Minot State at No. 5.

Minot State's in-state rival, Jamestown, was not ranked in the current Top 15 ACHA women's poll.
