BROOKINGS, S.D. – Minot State senior
Summer Krebsbach is running her best as the season winds down.
The Beaver sprinter crushed her own school record in the 200 meters on Friday, finishing 2
nd at the NCAA Division I-packed South Dakota State Indoor Classic, providing the big highlight for Minot State on the opening day of the indoor track and field meet hosted by the Jackrabbits.
Krebsbach and the rest of the Minot State student-athletes are back in action Saturday as the SDSU Indoor Classic concludes.
Minot State then competes next weekend at the Marauders Tune-Up prior to the NSIC Championships at the end of this month.
Sandwiched between a pair of runners from St. Thomas (Minn.), Krebsbach finished second in 24.87 seconds in the women's invitational 200 meters, breaking her previous indoor school record of 25.03, which she ran last season, and vaulting her to No. 4 in the current NSIC standings in the event this winter.
While her runner-up finish in the 200 led the way for Minot State, the Beavers also saw a top time this season in the women's 800 meters from
Bailey Wride, who was 29
th on Friday in 2 minutes, 19.52 seconds, vaulting her to No. 8 in the current NSIC standings in the event.
And
Emery Smith added another top event time for Minot State in the women's 5,000 meters, finishing 35
th on Friday in 18:51.77, moving her to 13
th in the current NSIC standings.
