FARGO, N.D. – Minot State freshman
Jamie Ward turned in a career-best effort in the hammer throw on Saturday, competing in her second outdoor track and field meet.
Ward finished 26
th with a throw of 118 feet, 3 inches at the North Dakota Spring Classic.
The hammer was the only event contested on Saturday, as the remainder of the field and running events take place on Sunday.
While Ward led the way,
Kaiya Chell finished 32
nd with a throw of 111 feet, 6 inches, in her collegiate debut in the hammer, and Madi Schuck was 35
th with a throw of 107 feet in her first college hammer-throw event.
