MINOT, N.D - It took the Beavers a bit longer, but after honoring six seniors playing their final game at the Maysa Arena, top-ranked Minot State rolled once again.
After honoring seniors
Sheldin Howard,
Austin Clyne,
Christian Kadolph,
Joey Moffatt,
Eric Krywy, and
Logan Rands between the first and second periods, the Beavers rallied from a one-goal deficit and skated to a 5-1 win over No. 9 Calvin on Saturday night.
Calvin opened the scoring 3 minutes, 6 seconds into the second period with a power-play goal before Minot State (25-1-1-1 overall) took control of the second half of Saturday's game.
Matt Egan got Minot State on the board with 9:54 gone in the second, then
Jay Buchholz scored the game-winner with 3:21 left in the period.
Then it was all Beavers as
Colby Joseph scored early in the third, Moffatt netted a goal with 4:04 left to play, and
Slade Stanick iced it, scoring with 9 seconds left.
William Dyke finished with 12 saves in goal in the win for Minot State, which now heads into the postseason looking to repeat as MCH Tournament Champions. The Beavers will play in the MCH semifinals on Saturday in Albert Lea, Minnesota, at the MCH Tournament hosted by Waldorf.
