MINOT, ND – On Senior Night at the MSU Dome, Minot State honored senior Dylan Gichaba for his dedication and contributions to the Beaver men's basketball program. The Minot State men's basketball team came up short in a 76-62 loss to the Northern State Wolves at home Saturday.
The Beavers (12-16, 9-13) had two players score in double figures, led by Deuce Benjamin, who had 18 points. Darik Dissette added 16 points and three steals and Carson Yale added eight points and six rebounds.
How It Happened
After falling behind 11-2, Minot State went on a 7-0 run with 13:12 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Kiku Parker Jr., to narrow its deficit to 11-9. Northern State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Beavers down 36-28 entering halftime.
Northern State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 42-33 advantage before Minot State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Dissette's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 42-39 with 15:29 to go in the contest. Northern State responded and outscored the Beavers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 76-62. Minot State took care of business in the paint, recording 28 of its 34 points in the lane.
