Beavers Split Monday Games at Space Coast Spring Games

Minot State continued play at the Space Coast Spring Games on Monday, falling 4-3 to Purdue Northwest before bouncing back with a 12-4 victory over Mercy in Florida. The Beavers move to 14-8 overall after the split, highlighted by a strong offensive performance from Raivyn Millions in the opener and big RBI days from Maizy Whitlow, Mallory Hoogensen, and Anna LaCount in the win over Mercy.

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Minot State Beavers got a boost from senior Raivyn Millions, who collected three hits, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to the Purdue Northwest Lions on Monday.
T. Kruser (2-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State (13-8).
Millions led the Beavers offensively, going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI. Sarah Misner added a double and a walk, while Anna LaCount drove in two runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State struck first in the third inning when Brooke Hyde came around to score to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.
Purdue Northwest answered to take a 4-1 advantage before Minot State rallied in the fifth inning. Millions delivered an RBI single during a two-run frame that trimmed the Lions lead to 4-3.
The Beavers threatened but could not push across the tying run the rest of the way.

VIERA, Fla. — Junior Maizy Whitlow and senior Mallory Hoogensen each drove in three runs as the Minot State Beavers rolled to a 12-4 victory over the Mercy Mavericks on Monday.
Senior Kierra Fournier (3-2) earned the win in the circle for Minot State (14-8). The right-hander pitched five innings, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four.
Whitlow finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Hoogensen went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Anna LaCount also added a big day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, and three RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, erupting for 10 runs in the first inning. The offensive burst was highlighted by LaCount's three-run home run and a two-run single from Hoogensen.
The Beavers added two more runs in the third inning when Whitlow singled home LaCount and Paige Kellogg to extend the lead to 12-1.
Mercy pushed across three runs late, but Minot State held on comfortably for the 12-4 win.
