MINOT, N.D. – A strong season on the ice earned a quartet of Minot State women's hockey players honors from the Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey conference this week.
The Beavers'
Jillian Ackerman,
Erica Fijala, and
Journey Miller each were named to the All-WMCH 2
nd Team for their performance this season on the ice, while freshman
Avary Lazarenko was named to the WMCH All-Rookie 2
nd Team for her play in her debut collegiate season, as well.
The quartet helped lead Minot State to an 18-7-7 overall record and a spot in the WMCH Tournament semifinals last month, and will lead the 3
rd-ranked Beavers later this month at the ACHA National Tournament. Minot State plays Jamestown on March 18 and Michigan-Dearborn on March 19 in pool play at nationals in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
Ackerman is a sophomore goalie from Minot, North Dakota, who was named to the All-WMCH and All-WMCH Rookie Team last season, as well. This season, in 26 games, Ackerman has 12 wins with 7 shutouts, a 1.55 goals against average, and a 94.4 save percentage.
The All-WMCH honor is the first for Fijala, Lazarenko, and Miller.
Fijala is a junior defenseman from Manitou, Manitoba, who, in 31 games this season, has 5 goals and 7 assists for the Beavers.
Lazarenko is a freshman defenseman from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who has 1 goal and 5 assists in 26 games.
Miller is a graduate student and forward from Soldotna, Alaska, who leads the Beavers with 17 goals this season, and has 8 assists in 30 games.
