Minot State Beavers rallies to secure 2-1 win against William Jewell in 11 innings

LIBERTY, Mo. --The Minot State Beavers responded from tied 1-1 in the eighth inning to win in exciting fashion, rallying to secure a 2-1 victory in the 11th inning over the William Jewell Cardinals Saturday.

Conner Meldrim (2-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (7-6). The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out three. Ayden Sauerbrei also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, starting the ballgame and throwing seven shutout innings while allowing three hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the sixth inning. Minot State scratched across a run off Charlie Ramb when Oscar Pegg tripled in Vinnie Gates.

The Cardinals then tied the ballgame at one before the Beavers came back to reclaim their advantage in the eleventh inning. Minot State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Gates, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Beavers.
