LIBERTY, Mo. --The Minot State Beavers rallied from tied 12-12 in the eighth inning to win in exciting fashion, earning a 13-12 victory over the William Jewell Cardinals Sunday.
Jacob Thompson (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (8-6). The right-hander went four innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out eight. Thomas Mitchell also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing no hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.
In the batter's box, the Beavers were paced by Michael Williamson, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double, two home runs, a walk and five RBIs.
