Minot State defeats Concordia-Saint Paul 6-2 behind Bagshaw's12-strikeout performance

MINOT, ND --Junior Colton Bagshaw had everything working on Sunday, striking out 12 Concordia-Saint Paul hitters over six innings of work to help power the Minot State Beavers past the Golden Bears 6-2.

In addition to his 12 strikeouts, Bagshaw (3-4) went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits and walking two for Minot State (14-21, 9-16). Freshman Thomas Mitchell also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Minot State scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of junior Vinnie Gates.

The score stayed at 2-2 until the very next inning, when the Beavers put runs on the scoreboard once again. The Minot State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run walk off the bat of junior Jorey Anderson, which brought the score to 6-2 in favor of the Beavers. The score remained 6-2 for the rest of the game, as Minot State coasted to the win.
