ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Minot State Beavers received a strong effort in the circle but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Northern State on Sunday.
Senior Kierra Fournier (8-6) took the loss for Minot State (27-18, 12-9), while junior Katie Newberry started and threw four innings, allowing one run on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Ellington Anderson led the Beavers offensively, going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State fell behind early before responding in the fourth inning. Anderson delivered a two-run double to give the Beavers a 2-1 lead.
Northern State answered late, scoring two runs over the final three innings to reclaim the lead and hold on for the 3-2 victory.

Sarah Misner (6-1) earned the win in the circle for Minot State (27-18, 12-9), allowing one run on three hits over four innings with two strikeouts and no walks. Taylor Kruse added two scoreless innings in relief.
Sara Van Wickler led the Beavers offensively, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Mallory Hoogensen.
The Beavers added three more runs in the second inning, with Van Wickler delivering a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0.
