SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Minot State Beavers were unable to secure a win on the road Friday, dropping both games of an NSIC doubleheader against Augustana, including a run-rule loss in the opener and a narrow defeat in Game 2.
GAME 1 | Augustana (SD) 15, Minot State 0
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minot State was held in check offensively in the opener, falling 15-0.
Junior Katie Newberry (9-5) took the loss for the Beavers (28-19, 13-10).
Minot State struggled to generate offense, going 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and failing to advance a runner past second base. The Beavers' best opportunity came in the fourth inning when Paige Kellogg reached scoring position with no outs.
Taylor Smith led Minot State at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Beavers responded with a stronger showing in the nightcap but came up just short in a 3-2 loss.
Senior Kierra Fournier (8-7) went the distance, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out three.
Minot State struck first in the third inning as Sara Van Wickler came around to score. After Augustana took the lead, the Beavers pulled within one in the sixth inning on a leadoff home run by Mallory Hoogensen.
Despite out-hitting the Vikings 8-6, Minot State was unable to complete the comeback.
