Minot State completed the Saturday sweep with a 13-1 win in game one and a 4-2 victory in game two over Bemidji State, improving to 20-22 overall and 15-17 in NSIC play. The Beavers will look to keep the momentum rolling Sunday as they close the series with another doubleheader against Bemidji State beginning at noon.
GAME 1 |
BEMIDJI, Minn. --Minot State got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Beavers put 13 runs on the board and beat the Bemidji State Beavers 13-1 Saturday.
Junior Ayden Sauerbrei (4-2) got the win for Minot State (19-22, 14-17). The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven. Freshman Toby Foster also pitched well, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Junior Colton Bagshaw came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
The Bemidji State Beavers failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Minot State hit two home runs in the inning on the way to pushing eight runs aross. which brought the Beavers lead to 9-0.
Bemidji State narrowed Minot State's lead to 9-1 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 11-1 in the third inning.
Minot State kept the Bemidji State Beavers without a run before expanding their lead in the sixth inning. Senior Jessen West and junior Cowen Meyer each scored a run for the Beavers in the inning, bringing the score to 13-1 in favor of Minot State. The score remained 13-1 for the rest of the game, as the Beavers coasted to the win.

BEMIDJI, Minn. --The Minot State Beavers broke through after a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning to take down the Bemidji State Beavers 4-2 Saturday.
Sophomore Wyatt Toth (4-3) got the win for Minot State (20-22, 15-17). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven. Senior Conner Meldrimalso pitched well, going two shutout innings while allowing three hits, walking none and striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Minot State got an RBI single from senior Jake Orthner, scoring senior Michael Williamson from second base.
The Bemidji State Beavers failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Minot State picked up a run on junior Vinnie Gates' lead off home run off of freshman Andrew Murphy, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Beavers.
Bemidji State clawed back to even the ballgame at two before Minot State reclaimed a 4-2 advantage in the seventh inning. The Beavers scored twice, with one run coming across on Williamson's single. The score remained 4-2 for the rest of the game, as Minot State held on for the win.
