Chris Brunkhorst was hired in June 2015 to lead Minot State University's strength and conditioning program.
He began his career at Minot State as an assistant football coach primarily working with the defensive line and was the lead strength and conditioning coordinator for the Beavers for one season in 2014. During his time with the football team, Brunkhorst implemented a comprehensive sports performance program as well as served as a recruiting coordinator and academic coordinator.
Brunkhorst has served as an assistant in both strength and conditioning and in football at Minnesota State Mankato. He conducted internships at both Louisiana State in Baton Rouge, La., and Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., during the 2010 summer and a long term internship at Minnesota State. He has a degree in Human Performance: Exercise Science and a Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology from Minnesota State.
As a Maverick, Brunkhorst was a team captain, NSIC First-Team All-Conference, Defensive Player of the Year and served on the team’s Unity Council. He went on to play in the 2009 Valero Cactus Bowl, the NCAA Division II Senior All-Star Game. He also helped Hoffner win the first of three NSIC South Division titles in 2008 as player. The following season he helped coach the first ever home playoff game in Maverick football history.
