Clay Bayard begins his 2nd season with Minot State University as an assistant coach and his first season as the Pass Game Coordinator. He will work with all aspects of the team's offense, but will focus on working with the quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends.
The Beavers were 11th in passing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in 2014, throwing for 2,343 yards overall and 213 yards per game. MSU passed for 14 TDs via the air. Bayard helped MSU quarterback Zac Cunha to become the league's eighth rated passer, throwing for 1,866 yards with 14 TDs against just five interceptions.
"Clay has a great feel for flow and spacing in the passing game," MSU head coach Tyler Hughes said. "He has a firm grasp on what it takes to move the ball through the air. I'm excited to see Clay take the next step in his career here at Minot State."
Bayard coached four seasons at Snow College in Utah where he was the wide receivers coach, recruiting coordinator and pass game coordinator during his time. He coached two All-Americans, three All-Conference players and helped three players advance to NCAA Division I schools and one who is on an NFL practice squad.
He began his playing career at Mayville State, but transferred to Snow before ending his career as a tight end for Dixie State in Utah.
Bayard earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Utah State and is pursuing a Master's from Minot State.
