Joe Dale is in his second season as a part of the Minot State University football coaching staff, joining the Beavers as an Assistant Football Coach / Defensive Backs in 2016. He will serve as the team's Special Teams Coordinator and will continue to work with the defensive backs in 2017.

In his first season with the Beavers, he helped MSU tie its team record for wins in a season during the program's NCAA Division II era.

Minot State finished as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference leader in passing yards allowed, giving up just 168.4 per game and just 22 passing TDs. Dale helped MSU's defense to the 12th best scoring defense in the league.

Dale is a former standout defensive back for NCAA Division I University of Utah and has coached at the DI and high school levels.

He earned letters for the Utes from 2006-09 and started at safety his last two seasons at Utah. Dale earned Defensive MVP of the 2007 Poinsettia Bowl and played in four bowl wins for the Utes. He was a part of the team's 2009 Sugar Bowl win over Alabama and played in two Poinsettia Bowls.

Dale spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a graduate assistant at Utah, working with all aspects of the team including recruiting. He coached three seasons at Madison High School in Idaho and one season at Murray High School in Utah.

Originally from Irving, Texas, Dale believes his ties to his home state will help build the Beavers' program.

Dale graduated from the University of Utah in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Sports Management. He is pursuing his Master's Degree in Educational Psychology at Utah.
