Nathan Koziol begins his third season on the Minot State coaching staff after spending the two previous seasons as a graduate assistant. His main focus will be working with the Beavers defensive backs.
Last season, the Beavers once again tied the school record for wins in a season at the Division II level and also posted the first victory against a team that finished the season with a winning record in the DII era.
In his first season with the Beavers in 2016, he helped MSU tie its team record for wins in a season during the program's NCAA Division II era.Â
Originally from Lodi, Wis., he played two seasons at NSIC rival Bemidji State, helping the BSU Beavers to a North Division Championship in 2012. He played both quarterback and wide receiver while at BSU.
In 2014, he transferred to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. While at Loras, he suffered a career-ending injury and turned his attention to coaching. He began his coaching career as a student assistant in 2015, coaching wide receivers and then switching to quarterbacks in the fall.
While at Loras, Koziol helped the team average 370 passing yards per game, which ranked second in Division III and sixth in all NCAA Divisions combined. Loras' quarterbacks threw for 3,700 yards and 36 touchdowns in only 10 games. Loras was one of the fastest and most explosive teams in Division III averaging over 85 plays a game.Â
He graduated from Loras College in the spring of 2016 with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration.Â
Koziol earned his master's in management from Minot State.Â
