Brett Watson

Brett Watson is in his first season as a Minot State men’s basketball coach in 2015-16. He comes to Minot after 10 successful seasons as a head coach in the state of Iowa.
 
Watson spent the last season as the head coach at Creston High School in Iowa. Watson previously coached for nine years at Adel DeSoto Minburn High School in Iowa. He has also been an AAU coach and worked as a camp counselor for numerous universities in the Midwest.
 
Not only has Watson had a successful coaching career he had a very good playing career. A four year letter winner at Wayne State College, Watson was named to the NSIC’s All-Conference first team in 2004-05. For his career, he totaled 1,208 points to rank 13th on the all-time list at Wayne State. In 2005, he was awarded the Northern Sun Conference Britton Scholar-Athlete Award for Academic Excellence. He also was named the Wayne State College Athlete of the Year and Student Athlete of the Year.
 
Watson earned his bachelor’s degree in math education (2005) from Wayne State College and a Master’s degree in educational administration (2010) from the University of South Dakota.
 
Watson and his wife, Jenna, have one son, Breckin.
