Mark Graupe

Mark Graupe begins his fourth season as Minot State University's head women's basketball coach in the 2020-21 season. Graupe became just the fifth head coach in the program's 45-year history in April of 2017.

The Beavers finished 7-20 overall during the 2019-20 campaign with a young team building a new dynamic and learning a new system in a tough NSIC slate of games.

The 2018-19 season was another solid year for Coach Graupe and the Beavers. Minot State finished 13-16 overall and 8-14 in the NSIC. Their season ended in the first round of the NSIC Tournament. Graupe guided guard Maddie Wald to a Second-Team All-NSIC listing.

Graupe wasted little time in putting his stamp on the Beaver program. After Minot State won four games during the 2016-17 season, he led the Beavers to a 14-13 overall record and an 11-11 mark in the NSIC in 2017-18. Minot State qualified for the NSIC Tournament and hosted Winona State in the opening round. Graupe coached former Beaver player Holly Johnson to First-Team All-NSIC honors that season. This honor was the first for the women's basketball program since the 2013-14 season.

Coach Graupe spent four seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Dickinson State in Dickinson, N.D. prior to becoming MSU's head coach. He turned around the Blue Hawks, earning back-to-back NAIA National Tournament appearances the past two seasons. His teams were a combined 46-17 over the past two years, setting a school record for wins in 2015-16 with 23 and then tying that record in 2016-17.

Before Dickinson State, he was the interim head men's basketball coach at NCAA Division-I Ivy League Dartmouth College for one season. He coached against current NBA star Jeremy Lin and a Cornell Big Red team that made the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Graupe spent a year at Colorado State University as the Men's Basketball Director of Basketball Operations under Tim Miles and was the head men's basketball coach at Lake Region State College from 2001-08, earning Region-13 Coach of the Year twice. His Lake Region teams finished with two Region 13 titles, one MonDak Conference title and four 20 win seasons.

He started his coaching career at Unity High School in Petersburg, N.D. with both the boys and girls programs and coached at Devils Lake High School and Williston High School.

Graupe, a native of Crosby, N.D., earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Dakota. He holds a bachelor's degree in physical education and mathematics with a minor in athletic coaching and has his master's in Kinesiology. He is also the author of a book, "Basketball Drills and More" published in 1998.
