MINOT, N.D. (5/21/20) -- Minot State University volleyball head coach Dana Cordova-Jacobson has announced the addition of Alex Gordon as an assistant coach. 

Head Volleyball Coach Dana Cordova-Jacobson on the hiring of Alex Gordon. "Alex is a great addition to the volleyball coaching staff and I am very honored to be able to work with him.  He brings a tremendous amount of volleyball knowledge with both international and college experience.  His energy and knowledge will be beneficial in bringing this program to new heights." 

Gordon is an experienced Volleyball Coach with a demonstrated history of working in the primary, secondary, and college education industries. He spent six years as a player for the South Jersey Volleyball Club and two years at the D2 Volleyball Club at the University of Vermont. He has coached in multiple locations in the United States and assisted in Japan. A player of his in Japan made the Japanese National Middle School Team. Gordon specializes in blocking, hitting, and setting fundamentals. 

The Framingham, Mass. native was an assistant with Assumption College in 2017. In the Northeast-10 Conference the Greyhounds went from 9th to 4th in blocks per set, 11th to 3rd in total blocks, and 15th to 11th in kills and assists during his time there.

During his first season with the U17 Boys Team at South Jersey Volleyball Club, they fell down 22 to 13 in a match against the number one ranked team in the area, but the rotation began to click and they mounted a comeback to win the set 26-24. Two years ago, while coaching a U15 Girls Team in the first tournament of the year, he helped lift a winless squad to a third-place finish in the tournament using a jump serving run to win the game. 

Coach Gordon on the opportunity to contribute to the Minot State volleyball team. "I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a great staff, program, and culture as the one here at MSU. The support and welcome I have received since day one have been excellent. I look forward to working with Coach Cordova-Jacobson and being a part of taking this program to the next level."

Gordon enjoys playing most sports but particularly enjoys disc golf, volleyball, and rock climbing. He is also an avid reader and film buff. 

He earned a Bachelor's degree focused in Biology, General Studies from the University of Vermont.
