Dana Cordova-Jacobson joined the Minot State staff in January of 2017, becoming the Beavers' ninth head volleyball coach in school history.
During a 2020 season that was canceled by COVID, Cordova-Jacobson's steady leadership allowed the team to compete during the spring 2021 semester and grow as a young squad over a handful of exhibition matches and one regular-season match.Â
Cordova-Jacobson led the Beavers to a 3-26 record in 2019 with two wins over arch-rival UMary. She coached star hitter Shelby Spuller to her 1,000th-career kill.Â
Cordova guided the Beavers to their most successful season in the D-II era in 2018. Minot State recorded the most overall wins in the D-II era with 13 while recording the third-most NSICÂ wins in the D-II era with six victories.
Bringing a passion and enthusiasm to the team, Cordova set about resurrecting the program in 2017. She led the Beavers to a 5-24 overall record in her first season on the sideline, which was highlighted by Minot State winning its first NSIC match in over two years.
Prior to moving to Minot, Cordova spent six seasons at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio, compiling a 72-99 overall record including a 19-12 season in 2016. The 19 wins set the benchmark for Tiffin volleyball since moving to NCAA Division II. She coached 11 all-conference players and two all-region players during her six seasons at Tiffin.
Before her time at Tiffin, Cordova served as the head volleyball coach for one season at Montana State University-Billings and was the head volleyball coach and head golf coach at Otero Junior College. She compiled a 165-155 record at Otero JC in volleyball where her team’s had 10 players named to the All-Region IX team. Her 2005 squad earned the Sheila R. Worley Sportsmanship Award. Cordova guided the 2006-2007 men’s golf team to Region IX title.
In all, she coached 13 Academic All-Americans and 52 Academic All-Region selections at OJC.
The Trinidad, Colo., native earned all-state honors in both volleyball and basketball and was a four-time state qualifier in track & field as a prep at Hoehne High School. She was named a NJCAA All-American in basketball at Otero Junior College as a player and finished her collegiate career at McPherson College in McPherson, Kan., earning all-conference honors.
Cordova earned her Bachelor’s degree in social science in 2000 from McPherson and earned an Associate of Science degree from Otero Junior College in 1997.
