Kari Francis is in her fourth season with Minot State University volleyball, serving as an assistant coach.
As the team's primary setter coach, Francis helped the program average 9.2 assists per set and 969 on the year. MSU finished 5-24 overall in 2016.
In 2015, the team averaged 10.7 assists per set with freshman Kelsey DeWulf finishing ninth in the Northern Sun in assists with 851.
In the 2014 season Francis helped Minot State to an 8-12 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, MSU’s best finish in its three seasons in the NSIC. She helped tutor Minot State’s all-time leader in assists Emily Byrne during the season.
She comes to Minot State after coaching eight seasons at North Branch and St. Antony Village in Minnesota, amassing over 100 wins during her prep coaching career. Francis also directed and coached the club volleyball programs at both high schools.
The Elk River, Minn., native had an outstanding career at North Dakota State University as she was the setter for the Bison for four seasons. She finished her career in fourth on NDSU’s all-time assists leaderboard and is seventh in assists per set. She finished with 4,215 assists in four seasons. In 2003, Francis was named a AVCA Division II All-American and was the North Central Conference co-Player of the Year.
Francis is married to Anthony Francis who is a civil engineer with NTI in Minot. They have two children, Brynn and Harper.
