CARONPORT, Saskatchewan – The Minot State University volleyball team fell in four games at Briercrest College late Wednesday night in nonconference NAIA volleyball.
MSU started strong, winning game 1 25-22, but lost 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21 in the final three games as the Clippers avenged an earlier loss at Minot. The game finished past 11 p.m. Minot time.
“Briercrest is a much improved team,” said MSU head coach Johnna Lewis. “And, we didn't make the necessary adjustments throughout the match. We made too many serving errors, hitting errors and blocking errors.”
MSU faced a couple different adverse conditions as they played without starting setter Abbey Aide (So., Bottineau, N.D.) who is nursing an ankle injury and had to play international rules at Briercrest.
“We had people playing in difference positions and we played with differences in the rules,” Lewis said. “But we need to adapt and overcome.”
One player moved into a different position was Jenna Moffatt (Fr., Libero, Brandon, Manitoba). Moffatt filled in for Aide and finished with 31 assists.
MSU returns home for its final Dakota Athletic Conference weekend at the MSU Dome as the Beavers play host to Jamestown College on Friday and Valley City State Saturday. Both nights are a 7 p.m. start. Saturday will be the Beavers “Dig Pink” night with all proceeds from various promotion benefitting local cancer programs.
