Dig Pink night set for Monday

Beavers partner with The Side-Out Foundation to raise money, awareness

MINOT, N.D.  – Minot State University has partnered with The Side-Out Foundation to sponsor a Dig Pink Night at the MSU Dome to promote awareness for breast cancer and to help raise money towards cancer research.

Minot State's Dig Pink Night will be Oct. 24 as the Beavers take on South Dakota Mines at the MSU Dome. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and to make a donation during the event. All fans wearing pink to the contest will get free admission.

“I think that breast cancer is something that will or has affected everyone on our team. I know personally it has with me because of family and friends,” said MSU head coach volleyball coach Travis Ward. “Because we are a women's sport, I think we have to bring attention to issues like this. The team is excited to be a part of the Dig Pink night.”

Donations can be made online at any time before or after Monday's match at Minot State's Side-Out Foundation page (https://www.side-out.org/application/ous/fundraising_page/46736).

Dig Pink is The Side-Out Foundation's trademark name for fundraising events. Minot State has also partnered with the Minot Area YMCA to host the event. All proceeds from donations will benefit the Side-Out Foundation for cancer research.

The Side-Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players, coaches and fans to work toward a common goal of making a significant difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families.

“Minot State has a responsibility to get involved with national campaigns that are around,” Ward said. “We are happy to be able to get involved with Dig Pink.”
