MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University's
Mandy Greenberg (So., P, Winnipeg, Manitoba) was close to impossible to hit.
Greenberg struck out 12 batters and allowed just one hit as the Beavers topped Black Hills State 1-0 in a winner's bracket game Friday at the Dakota Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Friday at South Hill Complex.
Greenberg used just 95 pitches to shut down the Yellow Jackets. She walked just one batter and gave up a single to BHSU's Kelsie Chambers.
MSU (28-8 overall0 scored its one run in the first inning as
Stacy Fournier (Fr., SS, Langley, British Columbia) drove in
Deanna Mitchell (Jr., 1B, Portage, Manitoba) in the bottom of the first. Mitchell, Fournier,
Kyla Thiesen (Jr., 2B, Brandon, Manitoba) and
Ashley Smoke (Jr., C, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba) finished with hits for the Beavers.
BHSU's Katie Wagner, who threw a no-hitter in the first game for the Yellow Jackets (10-26), worked six innings, giving up four hits and one earned run while striking out four in a tough-luck loss.
The Beavers move on to face Jamestown College in the winner's bracket game Saturday at 12:30 p.m. BHSU takes on Dickinson State in an elimination game Friday at 5:30 p.m.
