MOORHEAD, Minn. (Sept. 9, 2011) – Minot State University's remained perfect in set 4 on the season, but fell in five to St. Cloud State 3-2 in NCAA Division II volleyball Friday in the opening match of the Minnesota State Moorhead Tharaldson Classic.
MSU moved to 4-0 on the season in set 4, taking a 25-20 win and forcing a fifth and deciding set. The Huskies finished off the match with a 15-9 win. Game scores were 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25, 15-9. MSU also fell 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-12) to Augustana College in the Beavers second match of the day.

Travis Ward was overall happy with his team's performance
“We played a very, very good Northern Sun team that has a chance to win every night out and gave them fits for sure,” he said.
The Beavers (2-4 overall) didn't fare as well against the Vikings as they were finished off fairly quickly. MSU only had 15 kills for the entire match.
Jen Dixon (So., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) had five kills to lead the offense, while
Janice Rose Reinbolt (Sr., MH, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) had seven digs.
Emily Byrne (Fr., S, Reno, Nev.) finished with seven assists.
Augustana was paced by Jordan Spatenka's 12 kills.
No statistics were made available for the Minot vs. SCSU match.
