MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State University volleyball team saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Friday evening when the Beavers fell to the No. 3 ranked Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears.
The Golden Bears dropped the Beavers in straight sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-16.
In the first set, Concordia got out to an early 8-4 lead and looked to have a strong grip on the game, but the Beavers fought back. MSU got as close as 16-15, but the Golden Bears had a run of their own short thereafter closing out the first set.
The teams began the second set trading points back and forth until Concordia won six straight points after the game was tied a 9-9. After the Beavers rebounded with a point of their own, the Golden Bears scored five more straight points and eventually took the set 25-13.
The Golden Bears carried their momentum into the final set getting out to an early 9-4 and they never looked back. They closed out the game and final set, 25-16.
Tarah Dabovich (Jr., MH, Phoenix, Ariz.) led the way for the Beavers recording a team-high 10 kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .389.
Jen Dixon (Sr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) and
Mallory Sall (Jr., OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) recorded eight and seven kills respectively. Dixon also recorded 11 digs in the match.
The Beavers will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon when they take on Minnesota State-Mankato before they head home for their final homestand.
