DULUTH, MINN. – Heading into the fourth quarter, the Minot State University women's basketball team trailed by a single point with the score standing at 51-50 in favor of Minnesota Duluth.
The Beavers were outscored 20-4 in the final 10 minutes of the game and left Duluth with the all-time series tied at 4-4.
Defensively, MSU held tough until those final moments racking up a season-high 15 steals in a conference game including
Kari Clements (G, Fr., Trevor, Wis.) and
Savana Kingsbury (F, Sr., Omaha, Neb.) both with four, making it the fourth time this season a Beaver has hit that mark.
In the fourth quarter both teams shot a similar amount with Minnesota Duluth taking 13 shots compared to Minot State's 14. The difference was made in how many of those shots when through the basket. The Beavers made just one field goal while the Bulldogs made nine.
Kingsbury led the team with 15 points while
Madison Wald (G, Fr., Minot, N.D.) also hit double-digits with 10. Wald continued her hot shooting making 50 percent or more of her shots for the fourth-straight game.
Kingsbury landed in foul trouble early causing extra time off the court. Fellow starter
Kori Eurich (G, Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) also saw foul trouble with racking up four of her own. Eurich started the game off strong, scoring five of her seven points in the first quarter.
Sarah Lester (F, Sr., Frenchtown, Mont.) led the team in rebounds with seven while
Amanda Sansaver led in assists with four. Sansaver now just needs one assist and one point to have 300 points and 200 assists.
Minot State will play again, tomorrow, January 23 at St. Cloud State. The game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m.
