KUTZTOWN, PA. – The Minot State University wrestling team won its third dual of the season on Saturday morning against LIU Post 23-18 after suffering a loss against East Stroudsburg to start the second day at the Kutztown Duals.
In the first dual of the day, East Stroudsburg defeated MSU 26-15 after winning six weight classes, including the first three. The Beavers earned their first points with a
Cody Haugen (149) pin in the first period.
Parker Osterman (165) tallied six points for his team with a forfeit and
Jake Belland (HWT) defeated his opponent with a 4-2 decision.
The Beavers second match of the day resulted in their third win of the season, which all have come at neutral sites.
Liam Hayden (125) started the dual off with a 4-2 decision followed by a 9-2 decision by
Jered Sublet (141).
Shane Sheppard (157) and
Parker Osterman (174) came away with wins as well, including Osterman's 18-2 tech. fall victory.
Bryce Broome (197) earned his first win as a wrestler at Minot State with a 5-4 decision over Logan McGinn.
Shippensburg was the final dual of the day and their wrestling team proved to be too much for the Beavers as they left with a 36-6 win. MSU's lone points came from a forfeit at the 165-class.
Minot State returns home next week with two NSIC duals on Thursday, January 26 and Sunday, January 29. Southwest Minnesota State will compete in the Dome on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Augustana wrestle Sunday at 2.
