MINOT, N.D. – A standout effort on the mats and in the classroom earned 7 Minot State men's wrestlers national distinction as they earned the NCAA Division II Scholar All-American Award from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
Earning Scholar All-American honors were Minot State's
Zach Allen, a sophomore from Kingman, Arizona;
John Armstrong, a sophomore from Clancy, Montana;
Shafer Ehmke, a sophomore from Mankato, Minnesota;
Mario Esposito, a junior from Torre Del Greco, Italy;
Austin Garcia, a freshman from Lawton, Michigan;
Dylan McDonald, a graduate student from Lemoore, California; and
Braxton Rance, a freshman from Webster, North Dakota.
To earn the honor, a wrestler must be an All-American with a 3.0 GPA, a national qualifier with a 3.25 GPA, or compete in at least 4 regular-season events for their team and have a 3.5 GPA.
"These student-athletes have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom," NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer said. "We commend their dedication and the example they set for the sport."
