MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team forced 31 turnovers in an 80-25 win over Yellowstone Christian on Wednesday night in the Minot State Dome.
The win improves the Beavers to 3-1 (0-0 NSIC) on the season while tonight's game was an exhibition for the Centurions.
Junior
Shyla Carr scored a career-high 21 points on 7-13 shooting, including 5-9 from 3-point range to lead the Beavers. Carr also grabbed six rebounds and recorded two steals and one assist.
Redshirt freshman Alyx Fast poured in a career-high 14 points while posting five steals and dishing out three assists.
Sophomore Sam Brizee scored eight points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds while freshman Calli Delsman scored seven points and notched eight rebounds.
Yellowstone Christian scored the first five points of the game before the Beavers scored the final 17 points of the quarter to take a 17-5 lead. Minot State shot 58% from the field while forcing eight turnovers and limiting the Centurions to 1 of 10 shooting. Fast and Carr scored five points apiece while
Whitney Molina dished out two assists and notched two steals.
The Beavers carried the momentum gained from the first quarter, as Minot State outscored the Centurions 18-5 in the second quarter. MSU dished out six assists on their way to 7-16 shooting in the second quarter. Brizee paced the scoring for Minot State with six points in the quarter.
Fast scored nine points on 3-6 shooting from 3-point range to lead the Beavers in the third quarter. Minot State held the Centurions to 14% shooting while outscoring them 24-6 in the quarter.
Gabby Wilkinson and Molina added six and five points, respectively.
Minot State outscored the Centurions 21-9 in the fourth quarter on their way to an 80-25 win. Carr poured in 11 points on 3-4 shooting from 3-point range and grabbed four rebounds while Molina added six points and two rebounds.
The Beavers shot 46% from the field while limiting the Centurions to 21% shooting and forcing 31 turnovers.
Minot State dominated the paint with a 46-22 advantage in rebounds and 32-2 advantage in points in the paint.
Minot State returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 25, as they open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play vs. Mary at 2 p.m. in the Minot State Dome.
