MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State volleyball hits the road this weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches.
The Beavers will play at No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul on Friday night at 7 p.m. before heading to Mankato, Minn. to face Minnesota State on Saturday at noon.
Beavers Bits
Sophomore
Shelby Spuller leads the Minot State offense with 3.90 kills per set, ranking fourth in the NSIC.
Junior
Kelsey Dewulf paces the Beavers with 9.49 assists per set.
Sophomore
Emily Falldorf has notched a team-high 34 blocks and ranks second on the team with 79 kills this season.
Jeanne Brenner is third on the team with 76 kills, followed by senior
Brileigh Boyce with 67.
Freshman
Karli Koza sits sixth in the NSIC with 202 total digs on the season.
Scouting the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears
The Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears enter the weekend with a No. 2 ranking in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll and a record of 10-1 (3-0 NSIC) on the season. Brooklyn Lewis and Mariya Sampson pace the Golden Bear offense with 3.44 and 3.12 kills per set, respectively. Setter Elizabeth Mohr leads the NSIC in dishing out 13.33 assists per set.
Head coach Brady Starkey is in his 15
th season leading the Golden Bear program and has posted a career mark of 475-47.
Concordia-St. Paul leads the all-time series with Minot State, 6-0. In their last meeting, the Golden Bears swept the Beavers in a 3-0 decision in Minot, N.D. on Oct. 21, 2016.
Scouting the Minnesota State Mavericks
Minnesota State comes into the weekend carrying a 6-5 record (0-3 NSIC) this season. The Mavericks will face UMary on Friday night before hosting the Beavers on Saturday. Sydney Powell leads the Maverick attack with 3.42 kills per set. Autumn Risch and Micayla Porter pace the offense with 5.24 and 5.08 assists per set apiece.
Head coach Lori Rittenhouse-Wollmuth is in her third season at the helm of the Minnesota State program. Rittenhouse-Wollmuth has a career record of 38-31 entering this weekend's slate.
Minnesota State leads the all-time series with Minot State, 5-1. The Mavericks defeated the Beavers 3-1 in Minot, N.D. on Oct. 22, 2016 in their last meeting.
