ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior 
Brileigh Boyce and sophomore 
Shelby Spuller each had seven kills, but No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul defeated Minot State 25-19, 25-12, 25-14 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match on Friday in the Gangelhoff Center.
 
Spuller also added six digs, two blocks and a service ace, while 
Kelsey Dewulf added 27 assists and four digs. 
Jeanne Brenner added five kills for the Beavers, and Haley Swain and 
Emily Falldorf each finished with four kills.
 
Karli Koza once again paced the Minot State defense with 14 kills, which marked the 12
th consecutive match that she has reached double figures in digs.
 
Minot State dropped to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC, while Concordia-St. Paul improved to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
 
Sara Macek led the Golden Bears with 12 kills, while Hope Schiller and Brooklyn Lewis each had nine kills. Schiller also added 16 digs, two service aces and one block.
 
Elizabeth Mohr had 33 assists, five digs and two blocks in directing the Golden Bear offense.
 
Minot State jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set behind two kills from Brenner and kills by Swain and Falldorf. The Golden Bears responded with an 11-5 run to take a 13-11 lead.
 
The Beavers rallied back to within 16-15 on a kill by Boyce, but the Golden Bears pulled away on the strength of a 7-0 run.
 
Concordia-St. Paul closed out the first set on a kill by Mohr to claim the 25-19 victory.
 
The Golden Bears jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the second set. A kill by Boyce and a Concordia-St. Paul attack error brought the Beavers to within 10-5, but the Golden Bears claimed the set with a 15-7 run to end the set.
 
The Beavers had a 5-4 lead in the third set following a kill by Brenner, but the Golden Bears used a 3-0 run to regain the lead at 7-5.
 
Another kill by Brenner got the Beavers to within 7-6, but the Golden Bears pulled away with a 6-2 run to up the lead to 13-8.
 
Concordia-St. Paul closed out the third set on back-to-back Minot State attack errors.
 
Minot State returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 23) when it visits Minnesota State for a 12 p.m. NSIC match.
