MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State volleyball team will conclude the 2018 season on the road for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches. The Beavers will face St. Cloud State on Friday (Nov. 2) at 6 p.m. and then meet Minnesota Duluth on Saturday (Nov. 3) at 2 p.m. to finish the season.
The Beavers, who are 13-15 overall and 6-12 in conference play, have already recorded the most victories for a Minot State team during the Division II era surpassing the 12 wins set by the 2013 team. A pair of Minot State victories to end the season would give the Beavers their first .500, or better, season since the 2011 team went 18-16.
Minot State defeated Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston at home last weekend as the Beavers swept both teams. Junior
Shelby Spuller had one of the top performances of her career as she had 37 kills in the two matches and averaged 6.17 kills per set. Sophomore libero
Karli Koza was also outstanding for Minot State as she recorded 44 digs and averaged 7.33 per set.
Spuller leads the Minot State offense as she has 377 kills and is averaging 3.89 kills per set for the season.
Emily Falldorf ranks second on the team averaging 2.08 kills per set, while
Jeanne Brenner is averaging 2.06 kills per set.
Hayley Swain is averaging 1.87 kills pet set and leads the team with a .328 attack percentage. She also ranks second on the team averaging 0.48 blocks per set, while Falldorf tops the squad averaging 0.66 per set.
Senior
Kelsey Dewulf will close out her Minot State career this weekend. She has 977 assists and is averaging 10.1 per set and is third on the team averaging 2.03 digs per set.
Koza leads the Beavers defense and is averaging 5.10 digs per set, while
Mekayla Gurley is averaging 2.08 digs per set.
St. Cloud State is 13-11 overall and 9-9 in the NSIC, while Minnesota Duluth enters the weekend with a 22-5 overall record and a 15-3 mark in conference play.
