Beavers Fall to Chaminade at Buzzer

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Madison Wald and Mariah Payne each scored 17 points, but Destiny Castro hit a three-pointer at the buzzer lifting Chaminade to a 79-77 victory over Minot State on Wednesday inside St. Francis Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mariah Payne was 5-of-7 from the floor and scored 12 points leading Minot State to a 17-9 lead over Chaminade
  • Madison Wald poured in 12 points in the second quarter as both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor and Chaminade outscored the Beavers 26-24
  • Minot State took a 41-35 lead into intermission
  • Minot State stretched the lead to 60-47 after three quarters as Raegan Sanchez scored five points and Whitney Molina had four points
  • Chaminade outscored Minot State 32-17 in the final quarter as Destiny Castro scored 21 points
  • Destiny Castro hit a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded giving Chaminade the victory

  • Madison Wald was 7-of-16 from the floor and 3-of-6 from the three-point line to finish with 17 points
  • Mariah Payne was 7-of-15 from the field and had a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists
  • Whitney Molina was 5-of-8 from the floor and had 11 points and five rebounds
  • Kari Clements also reached double figures for the Beavers with 10 points
  • Haley Hildenbrand led the Beavers with seven rebounds and also had five points
  • Calli Delsman had five rebounds, two points and two assists

  • Minot State suffered its first loss of the season and dropped to 3-1 on the year
  • Minot State shot 53.8 percent from the floor in the third quarter
